The Cave You Fear to Enter Holds the Treasure You Seek

What are you NOT doing out of fear?

What are you not saying?

What are you not starting?

What are you not stopping?

What are you not asking for?

What are you not doing?

Where are you hiding? Cowering behind your stone?

And how does it feel back there?

Safe? Comfortable?

Yes. But also oh-so-miserable because you're NOT doing the thing(s) you know you need to do.

NOT doing the thing your heart is SCREAMING for.

NOT doing the thing that would allow you to grow, evolve, move on from where you are now.

And when you repeatedly ignore the things you know you need to do. When you repeatedly ignore the signs and the callings and the whispers that say "this is NOT who you are. This is NOT what you were put on this earth for" - well, you just kind of rot away inside. You get hollowed out.

This isn't about taking some crazy level action (although it might be about that, for you). It's not about saying everyone needs to quit their job and start a business.

It's about YOU getting honest with YOURSELF and asking:

"Where do I know I'm not being true to who I am? Where do I know I'm not living the life I'm meant for? Where do I know I'm wasting what's been given to me in this world in terms of time and energy and resources and personality?"

Joseph Campbell said it well:

"The cave you fear to enter holds the treasure you seek."

You cannot, will not and do not get to experience yourself as you truly are and live the life you know you're meant to live unless you go into that cave.

The treasure and the fear are part of the same package. You don't get one without the other. So you either take them both or not at all.

And you might call that unfortunate. You might think it sucks that you can't have one without the other. But is it really? Would you really want everything you want without any challenge? Would you want it all to come so easily?

I believe my purpose here is basically growth. I believe that's your purpose too. Everything else is just an elaborate game set up to support that growth. And yes, even down to and including your other "purpose" - the practical or physical thing you think you're here to create in this world.

And without the fear and the oh-no-oh-no-oh-no-I-can't-it's-too-scary feeling and having to move into and through and past that, there would be NO growth.
And therefore there'd be no point.

So the fear, although you'd do everything you can to deny it, is exactly what you want.

So it's Monday. Monday's are great days to challenge yourself. What are you NOT doing out of fear? And will you challenge yourself, today, to take a step towards or into that cave towards the treasure you seek?

Love and courage,

Leah
